2. We LOVE FFL and would like to start an FFL group on campus. How can we go about doing that?

We would love to be affiliated with you! If you are interested in exploring this option, please contact the College Outreach Program Coordinator at coordinator@ffloncampus.org or call 703-836-3354

3. I am writing an essay/paper/article on FFL - can I interview someone?

Due to the volume of requests, we have created this website for the purposes of helping students on their papers. Our spokespeople are generally unavailable for interviews because they are traveling to campuses all over the U.S.

4. When is an FFL speaker going to be coming to my area?

For a continually updated listing of speaker dates in the next few months, see our Speaker Schedule.

5. Does Feminists for Life have speakers who could come to our campus?

Information on hosting a speaker appears on our website. After reading through the guidelines, write to us at info@feministsforlife.org to schedule a speaker. Be sure to include the name and geographic location of your school, along with the dates you would prefer.

6. How far in advance do I need to secure a lecture date?

Our College Outreach Program speakers are in very high demand, and dates for the fall and spring semesters fill up quickly! To be safe, you should try to request your lecture date several months in advance. This doesn't mean that we can't coordinate an event on shorter notice, but it will make it more difficult to accommodate your preferred date. Keep in mind that the most successful lectures generally take at least six-eight weeks to plan from start to finish. For a Pregnancy Resource Forum, you need to allow your student group at least two-three months to plan. To ensure that your group gets the lecture date requested, the College Outreach Program Coordinator MUST receive a signed Student Agreement Form from you SIX WEEKS BEFORE YOUR LECTURE. To get this form and access to our lecture planning kits, contact FFL's College Outreach Coordinator at coordinator@ffloncampus.org.

7. How much will the lecture cost?

To bring an FFL speaker to your campus, you will be responsible for her honorarium, which includes all travel/hotel expenses and educational materials. You will also be responsible for the cost of placing an ad in your campus newspaper before the lecture. A general budget of $2000-5000 is suggested, depending on the speaker you book. For amounts specific to your school and speaker request, contact the College Outreach Coordinator at coordinator@ffloncampus.org.

You will want to petition your college or university for the necessary funds to bring an FFL speaker to campus, so make sure you start planning your event in plenty of time to apply for school funding. There are some scholarships available through FFL - contact the College Outreach Coordinator for more information.

8. How can we minimize expenses?

The easiest way to cut costs is to get more local schools to participate in an FFL lecture tour, because then we are more likely to be able to find scholarships and discounts due to travel breaks. If a college or university is not too far from yours and you know the pro-life contacts there, get in touch with them and see if they are also interested in hosting an FFL speaker or a Pregnancy Resource Forum on their campus. You can also contact local, regional, or church pro-life groups to petition for additional funding. For more tips on fundraising, ask the College Outreach Coordinator, coordinator@ffloncampus.org, for access to Serrin's or Sally's lecture kit. Remember, planning ahead makes for a smoother event and it saves you money too - the sooner you contact us and secure your lecture date by sending in your Student Agreement Form, the sooner we can start looking for the cheapest travel fares!

9. Who makes the speaker's travel arrangements?

Feminists for Life speakers will book their own travel and accommodations unless specifically requested not to do so. We will ask you to provide a suggestion for a local hotel (with a restaurant) on the Student Agreement Form, but we may choose other accommodations depending on price, location or convenience. Students will be responsible for coordinating airport/train station pick-up/drop-off arrangements with the College Outreach Coordinator.

10. What are my primary responsibilities as a student coordinator?

  • Securing lecture date by sending completed Student Agreement Form to College Outreach Program Coordinator at least six weeks before lecture/forum.
  • Coordinating lecture info: lecture date, time, location, panelists (Pregnancy Resource Forum only), refreshments/reception (optional).
  • Giving details for customized speaker ad to the College Outreach Coordinator so that FFL can provide you with your free 8.5x11 ad - this must run in your student newspaper prior to the event and should also be copied to poster around campus. Also, make sure you invite members of the student and local press to cover the event.
  • Getting the word out on campus to make sure that students, faculty and staff are informed of the Who, What, Where, When and Why. No one will come to the lecture if they don't know about it! Post flyers all over the place, spread the word through academic departments and campus organizations, make table tents, paint a big bedsheet banner and hang it, get the lecture advertised in campus-wide e-mails or activity calendars, tell local pro-life groups, send personal invitations, get everyone in your group to bring a friend, tattoo lecture info on your forehead... you know, whatever it takes.
  • Making sure that Serrin or Sally is picked up from the airport/train station, taken to the hotel, fed dinner, brought to the lecture 15 minutes early, returned to the hotel and taken back to the airport/train station ON TIME.
  • Collecting any and all articles/editorials written about Serrin or Sally's lecture, and sending to the College Outreach Coordinator after the event.
  • Making sure that your balance due is paid to Feminists for Life before the end of the academic year.
